Happy Hamsters UK

Hamsters are hoarders, which means feeding them daily can lead to them becoming overweight and unhealthy. So how often and how much should they be fed?

The first thing to do is make sure that your hamster is on the correct food!

Species Specific Food

Specialized foods tailored to each hamster species are beneficial as they provide a more comprehensive nutritional profile based on the specific requirements of each hamster.

Chinese, Dwarf (Russian, Winter White, and Campbell) as well as Roborovski hamsters should be given food mixes designed for dwarf hamsters.

  • Dwarfs (Russian, Winter White, Campbells): 2 tsp once every 2-3 days.

  • Chinese: 1.5 tbsp once every 2-3 days.

  • Roborovski: 1.5 tsp once every 2-3 days.

For Syrian hamsters, it is recommended to feed them food mixes specifically formulated for Syrian hamsters.

  • Syrians: 2 tbsp once every 2-3 days.

Here are some great options for species-specific food mixes!
